Coasts and beaches
The beach is the perfect curve traced by the intersection of water and land, delineating the dynamic roundness of the Earth.
To us and our negligible altitude, they are perceived as infinite panes that lie beyond the horizon.
Beaches are drawn according to the influence of many interplaying factors. On one hand, sea level drops during cold periods when water is kidnapped as ice on the mountain tops and rises
again when temperature increases. Tectonic activity also plays a role in sea level equilibrium.
Today the crust is still accommodating after releasing the massive weight of the glaciers. When ice advances and retreats, the crust oscillated with the rhythm of glaciation, up and down above the plastic lithosphere.
Relative changes of sea level leave terraces behind, with gentle slopes sculpted by the eternal coming and going of tides.
